So, nearly two years and 15 million dollars later, finally we got to see Fox's Terra Nova and it was, in a word....ok... or is that o.k.? And in that case I meant in two initials... regardless... it certainly holds some promise, but I'm not sure it's going to be engaging enough to keep people or have enough fascinating stuff going on to get people talking to bring in new viewers.
They drew about 9 million for the premiere and if they can keep grabbing that number maybe plus another million on DVR viewing we'll see the show for a season two. As it stands, I foresee a drop by about a third and a tough debate for Fox. Basically they've already got the 13 episodes of season one guaranteed (they amortized the cost of the pilot over the season to justify it), but a second season of an expensive show, shot in Australia, that isn't a huge hit? I doubt it.
Bottom line, keep the nine million and the show probably stays, drop at all and it's likely one and done.
