So I wanted to give Whitney a chance. Really. I watched some of the promos, they looked funny. And then I tried to watch the show last night and it might have been funny, but I couldn't tell through the canned laughter. On a night where every other show forgoes the laugh track, for some reason it was included on this one and it was so jarring to the point where I just had to stop watching.
This isn't an indictment of shooting a show in front of a live studio audience or even using a laugh track to supplement the audience, but when the laughter comes so hard, so strong at a joke you know isn't that funny that it just kinda ruins everything. The laugh track works great on other shows. It doesn't bother me on The Big Bang Theory and other CBS shows. Even on 2 Broke Girls, a show Whitney Cummings Executive Produces, but it did not work here. Please. Make it go away.
I'll go back and give it another chance, but I'd much rather have it without the laugh track.
