After many months of teases here comes X-Factor. Frankly I'm not that excited. I'm kinda music competitioned out. That said it's got Simon Cowell and we finally get to see a judge say something honest (perhaps a little harsh) and really actually tell the singers what we're all thinking. So yes, I'll watch. But I'm not going to be happy about it.
Also, in the UK, the X-Factor quickly replaced Pop Idol there, eventually sending it to it's demise. While they are on the same channel here in the states, that might buy Idol more time, but the Simon factor looms large and I suspect ratings will be solid for X-Factor in year one, down for Idol and that's a trend that will continue for the next couple of years until Idol slides away like Ophelia into the depths below.*
*Yes, it's a Shakespeare reference. Just because I watch an obscene amount of television doesn't mean I can't act like I read too. I mean, I don't really, but I heard about her drowning one time and this seemed to be the perfect moment to bust out that knowledge. So yeah, that just happened.
